About Us

John (holding the cat) with his two older brothers , his Auntie Morag (back left) and two neighbours
We are John and Norma Morrison. We were both born and brought up here in the Western Isles with Scottish Gaelic as our native language. So as we say in Gaelic "Ceud mìle fàilte gu ceann à bhaigh!" - A hundred thousand welcomes to One Bayhead!
John was born and brought up here on lands that have been in the family for generations. Unfortunately, however, the house John was born and brought up was destroyed by a house fire in the 1980s.
With a wish to provide visitors from all over the world with a comfortable base from which to explore and enjoy the stunningly beautiful Isle of Harris and Lewis, John returned here after retirement to lovingly build One Bayhead, very close to where his old house used to be.
The house was completed in 2019 to the highest quality standards, utilising renewable energy technologies (air-source heat pumps) to ensure thermal comfort all year long.
